Capacity: 6 Quarts

This wok has a generous capacity of 14 inch in diameter and 4 1/2 deep. It can easily cook enough for a large family whether it’s stir-frying of meats with mixed veggies, or braising a wok full of finger-licking short ribs.

Heating: Conventional Heating

The temperature goes up to 400 degrees F and the temp probe dial has five settings. They are: sear, high, medium, keep warm, minimum and literally everything in between. For searing meats, you should use the “searing” or “high” dial. For steaming vegetables, halfway between “medium and high” would be an appropriate setting. The steamer that comes with the wok nests on top of the wok for steaming meats, seafood or vegetables. The side handles are heat-resistant for safe and easy transport.

Easy to Use and to Clean

I saw a video on HSN, (Home Shopping Network) when the lady made macaronis in the wok, she used a paper towel to wipe the entire wok full of cheese, cream and starch clean, effortlessly.

The bonus feature of this wok is that the base is removable for easy cleaning. All you need to do is to turn the wok upside down and remove the locking screw by turning counter-clockwise. Then lift the base straight up. Reattaching the base after cleaning is to align the notch for the temp control to the socket on the wok. Turn the screw clockwise to replace the lock screw.

The use for the wok seems to be infinite. People use it for stir-fries for sure. They also use it to make stews, chilis (now fall is approaching). They use it for popping popcorn, making cheese or chocolate fondue, and even almond toffee.

The wok comes with a good sampling of different recipes. Some of the ways to use the wok are so new and innovative to me.

helpful-tipsHelpful Tips

  1. When you stir fry, don’t overload the wok with too much stuff (no more than 8 cups). Otherwise you’d turn the stir-frying into stewing.
  2. To cook Chinese stir fries, you’ll need to have basic ingredients: fresh garlic, fresh ginger, green onion, soy sauce, sugar, dry sherry or Chinese cooking wine.
  3. To make a cheesy pasta, melting the cheese in the wok first on low to medium heat. Stir constantly until the cheese melts completely. Add the cooked and drained pasta into the sauce, stir and serve. Garnish with some fresh parsley for color contrast.

Pros and Cons

ProsIt’s well-made and it will last for many years to come. It’s smartly designed and very easy to use. It’s versatile for cooking so many different meals in one single wok. The temp control is simplistic and intuitive so customers can relate the dials to their own stove-top temp controls. The wok is shaped with a small base so it only requires minimum cooking oil. This reduces the fat content in the food. The base is easily removable for cleaning.

ConsNo reported cons to speak of. One customer said it was heavy to lift. Yes, it’s true the wok weighs about 13 pounds and it will be hard to do any of the flipping stunts as you’ve seen Asian chefs do.
