There are so many reasons for you to explore the versatility of this Sanyo HPS-MC3 3-in-1 Non-Stick Electric Multi-Cooker. My very favorite one is that you can cook a meal with a universal appeal: The Chinese Hot Pot, the Japanese Shabu Shabu, the French Fondue or the American One-Pot Meal.

This Sanyo multi-cooker has a 4-1/2 quart capacity. It’s not huge by the American portion standard, but ideal for singles up to medium-sized families.

Heating: Up to 460 Degrees F

The heating element is on the bottom of this cooker completely sealed for safety. A cooking pot sits perfectly on top of the heating element with a lid. This pot is where many actions will take place and where you’d prepare your Hot Pot as a crowd-pleaser.

The versatility comes in when you can take the pot off and swap it with an indoor grilling plate from grilling a ham-and-cheese sandwich to a savory Korean BBQ.

The steamer comes handy when you want to steam your food instead of cooking in oil to preserve the natural flavor and juice from the food. Not to mention the benefits in low-fat diets.

Temperature

You can adjust the temperature from “Keep Warm” at 250 degrees F all the way to high heat at 460 degrees F.

Very detailed instructions on what temperature to use for each cooking method is provided in the User Manual. For example, if you use it for Shabu-Shabu, you can set the temperature on high to get the pot boiling. Then you can adjust the temperature to medium or low based on the pace of your eating.

Easy to Use and to Clean

Consider the removal parts for different cooking methods as a child’s plug and play. The cooking pot can be used for multiple purpose alone such as Shabu-Shabu, stewing, browning, sautéing. The steamer and grilling plate follow the same logic.

Since the cooking pot and the grilling plate are all non-stick, it’s very easy to clean with warm soapy water and wipe clean. The steaming plate can be hand-washed or washed in a dishwasher.

Customer Reviews

4.3 out of 5This multi-cooker was rated 4.3 out of 5 by all reviewers. Many people took full advantage of the multi-functional features to cook meals based on their own preference and ethnicity. It was called a “dream cooker” for singles and for someone with space constraints.

Pros and Cons

ProsIt’s compact and portable. You can take it anywhere. It’s so versatile to switch between cooking methods (sauté, brown, BBQ, simmer, stew, steam, etc.) for different dishes. Hot pot or Shabu-Shabu and grilling cover the most beloved meals in China, Japan and Korean. These meals are healthy, easy to prepare and so delicious. If you ever taste the Hot Pot or the Korean BBQ, you’ll have a different expectation for your typical salt-and-pepper seasoning.

ConsQuite a few customers mentioned about the short power cord. In fact, the short code was by design to eliminate the potential risks caused by entanglement or being tripped. I always have to use an extension cord for my cooker when entertaining guests in the dining room. I make sure to plug in the extension cord in a far-corner of the table so there is no on-going foot traffic to avoid trip-over.

Price, Warranty and Where to Buy – Sanyo Multi-Cooker

I thought this multi-use cooker is very reasonably priced considering the many functions it provides. Manufacturing defects are warranted for one-year from the purchase date. It’s available to purchase on Amazon.
