14 Cups of Cooked Rice Capacity

check-today's-rice-cooker-deal

Different from many rice cooker manufacturers around the world, Aroma markets its rice cookers in cooked rice capacity, which is double of what others do in uncooked cups. So the 14-cup capacity is referred as the cooked rice or 7-cup uncooked rice. Either way, it’s a generous size for small to medium families as one cup of uncooked rice is more than enough for one person if using as a side dish.

Two other capacity sizes are also available as 18 and 20 cups in cooked rice. They are more suitable for large families or you just want to have the flexibility to cook more when needed.

Heating: Digitally Programmed

This rice cooker combines the traditional heating element on the bottom of the external vessel with digital programs preset for cooking various foods. So you don’t have to tinker with rice vs. water ratio if you cook a different type of grain. All you need to do is to set the appropriate setting, the cooker knows what to do in terms of adjusting the temperature and cooking duration.

Easy to Use and to Clean

Using a rice cooker such as this is probably the easiest thing to do as far as cooking goes. Follow the Usual Manual to cook different kinds of food. Make sure you measure the rice in the cup provided and add water per the instruction or the marked line in the inner pot. The rest is breezy.

Since the inner pot and the steamer are made of stainless steel, the lid of tempered glass, all these parts are dishwasher safe.

  1. Even though the rice cooker has only two settings for white and brown rice, you can pretty much cook any other types of grains such as oatmeal, couscous as long as you adjust the water to grain ratio. The Usual Manual provide general guidelines.
  2. Always, always use the cup supplied to measure dry rice as the cup size is smaller than a typical measuring cup.
  3. Use a kitchen mitt when taking the inner cooking pot out of the cooker.

Pros and Cons

ProsAll inner cooking surfaces are made of 100% stainless steel that’s non-reactive to foods of all kinds. So there is no peeling-off or foreign substance leaching into the foods. You can be rest assured to enjoy the foods you cook rather than worrying about harmful side effects. The all-in-one meal setup with this rice cooker makes it time and energy efficient because you can cook the entire meal in this one pot. The sauté-then-simmer is a great concept as you don’t have to sauté meats or vegetables in a sauté pan and then transfer them to the rice cooker for simmering. It saves a lot of hassles and less to clean up afterwards. It’s easy to clean as all the removable parts (the inner cooking pot, the steamer and the lid) can be washed in the dishwasher. Two-year warranty is a big plus, too.

ConsNo timer is in the design of the rice cooker which is a handy feature found in many other rice cookers. The menu options are not as elaborated in different types of rice and grains as others have. This can also be a plus too as more options can easily overwhelm some people. Less is more.
