30 Cups Capacity for Commercial Use

This is a commercial grade rice cooker with 30 cups (uncooked rice) as the maximum capacity. I know it’s confusing for an average person to figure out between uncooked or cooked rice. Aroma, the manufacturer of this rice cooker has sometimes labeled the product as cooked, others as uncooked. The bottom line is this rice cooker yields 60 cups cooked rice, which is a lot of rice for residential use.

Heating: Conventional or Electric

This is a conventional or electric rice cooker as opposed to a fuzzy logic rice cooker. The conventional one doesn’t have any artificial intelligence built in the cooker. The conventional rice cooker has two components to the rice cooker: the external vessel and the inner cooking pot. The inner pot sits inside of the external “shell”. The heating element is on the bottom of the external vessel.

When you plug the power cord, the water in the inner pot will be heated to generate steam. The steam will be absorbed by the dry rice and hence the rice cooked via the steam. When the rice is cooked, the cooker will be switched to ” warm” mode automatically. It’s better to leave the cooked rice for about 20 minutes to fully absorb the moisture for the best result.

Easy to Use and to Clean

Since this is a simple electric rice cooker, there is not much to fiddle with other than measuring the dry rice using one of the measuring cups provided, add water per the instruction or the marked line in the inner pot. Plug the power cord in and press “cook” button. You can walk away for a little while and the rice will be ready when you are back.

If you are going to use it in a restaurant setting, you may want to plan ahead about how much rice you might be needing during a day and set the schedule to cook accordingly. I’ve seen many restaurants have at least two rice cookers to alternate during the day. Nowadays, it’s more important to have two rice cookers as one might be cooking white rice while the other with brown rice.

Please bear in mind, if you cook to the maximum capacity, the cooking time might take as long as an hour. So plan your time accordingly.

Cleaning is easy. Let the inner pot cool down a bit and take it out of the cooker to wash with some soapy water. Don’t use any harsh detergent or abrasive pad as it will damage the non-stick pot surface.

  • Rice spatula
  • 2 Measuring cups (one for 900 ml and the other for 180 ml)

helpful-tipsHelpful Tips

  1. Use the 900ml measuring cup to cook large quantities of rice. This cup is 5x of the smaller one (180ml), which produces 10 cups cooked rice.
  2. Use Water Line 5 in the inner pot for the 900ml cup of rice, Line 10 for 2 900ml cups, Line 15 for 3, Line 20 for 5 cups. So the water line is incremented by 5.
  3. If you cook brown rice, soak the brown rice for 90 minutes before cooking to get the best result. You may want to add 1/4 more water than the marked water line as brown rice will require more water due to the bran and texture.

Customer Reviews

4.2 out of 5Customers who bought and used the rice cooker were quite happy with the quality of rice it cooks and the ease of using and cleaning the cooker. They were also pleased with the value they got for the price. The rice cooker was used for home, church, charity, event, reunion and restaurant, etc.

Pros and Cons

ProsLarge capacity for multiple uses in residential or commercial setting. It takes the guesswork out of cooking rice when you have so many balls to joggle from running a restaurant operation. Some folks just cook up a big batch and freeze it for later use to save time, energy and water from cooking multiple times a week or a month at home.

ConsThe heavy duty lid is very sharp. So be careful when you open the lid.
